GamePlay: For complete gameplay and menu information, check the In-game Manual. To access, select Extras from the Main Menu, then select Game Manual.
Individual Defensive Back and Linebacker adjustments: You can adjust any of your D-backs or linebackers individually at the line of scrimmage: Before the snap, pull L2 for linebackers, or R2 for defensive backs. Next, press the button that corresponds to the icon over the player you want to adjust. Then release both buttons. The icon for the selected player will still be over his head, and icons will appear above the heads of the 5 offensive receivers. Then you can: Press the corresponding button to double-team that receiver, pull the R1 to spy the QB, press L2 to assign a blitz, press R2 to assign a delayed blitz, or click in R3 to reset the commands.
Bluffing technique when calling plays: Keep your opponents confused! on the Play Call screen, once you've found the play that you want to run, press and hold down the corresponding button. Then you can flip through the other play pages in the same formation. When you let go of the play button you are holding, you will break the huddle with the original play selection called.
Offensive Hot Routes: If you want to change a receiver's route at the Line, call a Hot Route. Move the Right Analog Stick in the direction corresponding to Routes below, and press the button that corresponds to the receiver to assign the route. Routes are as follows: Up = Go route, Down = Stop route, Right = Out route, Left = In route, Up-Right = Quick Corner route, Up-Left = Slant route, Down-Right = Speed Out route, Down-Left = Speed Under route, Click R3 (press in) = Pass block.
Maximum Tackling: When an offensive player is wrapped up by a tackler, he can get dropped or break free. When a defender wraps his arms around you, the cursor under the offensive player turns red. At that point, both the ball carrier and the defender can rapidly press the X Button to either break free, or take the other player down.
